Progressive myopia in children

Why myopia progresses, and why we aim to slow it

In children, myopia often increases because the eye grows too long. The longer the eye becomes, the further the image forms in front of the retina, and the more distance vision blurs. Move the age slider and compare the progression without and then with myopia control.

Progressing myopia is not just a matter of stronger glasses: high myopia increases, in adulthood, the risk of certain retinal conditions. That is why we aim to slow its progression during growth. The methods of myopia control are decided with the ophthalmologist.
