Surgery Indications for Fuchs’ Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy — Review of the Literature

Tourabaly M, Knoeri J, Georgeon C, Borderie V

Review of the literature on the surgical indications in Fuchs endothelial dystrophy. A synthesis of the decision criteria (preoperative visual acuity, corneal thickness, densitometry) that guide the optimal time to recommend an endothelial graft (DMEK or DSAEK).

Évaluation de la vitrectomie associée à une irido-zonulo-hyaloïdotomie dans le glaucome malin

Sellam A, Tourabaly M, Borderie V, Bouheraoua N

A retrospective study of 12 eyes with malignant glaucoma (aqueous misdirection syndrome) treated by vitrectomy combined with irido-zonulo-hyaloidotomy. Intraocular pressure lowered from 38 to 18 mmHg on average, with complete success in 50% of cases and qualified success in 83%.

Long-term Outcomes After Lamellar Endothelial Keratoplasty Compared With Penetrating Keratoplasty — A Systematic Review

Lemaitre D, Tourabaly M, Borderie V, Dechartres A

A systematic review of 50 studies comparing the long-term survival of lamellar endothelial grafts (DMEK, DSAEK) and penetrating keratoplasties for Fuchs dystrophy and bullous keratopathy. Superior survival and better visual recovery after lamellar grafting at 5 and 10 years.

Corneal Epithelial Thickness Mapping in the Diagnosis of Ocular Surface Disorders — A Comparative Study

Levy A, Georgeon C, Knoeri J, Tourabaly M, Leveziel L, Bouheraoua N, Borderie VM

A comparative study of 303 pathological eyes and 55 healthy eyes using corneal epithelial thickness mapping by OCT. Identification of specific epithelial signatures for keratoconus, epithelial basement membrane dystrophy, dry eye, pterygium and carcinoma in situ.

Long-term Results and Refractive Error After Cataract Surgery With a Scleral Incision in Eyes With Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty

Tourabaly M, Knoeri J, Georgeon C, Borderie M, Bouheraoua N, Borderie V

A retrospective study of 33 eyes that underwent cataract surgery with a scleral incision after DALK grafting. Graft survival of 100%, a mean gain of 2.5 lines of visual acuity, with the Hoffer Q formula identified as the most accurate for implant calculation after DALK.

Prevention of Infection After Corneal Refractive Surgery: A French Survey

Tourabaly M, Knoeri J, Leveziel L, Bouheraoua N, Ameline B, Borderie V

A national survey of 83 French refractive surgeons on infection prevention practices after PRK, LASIK and SMILE. Wearing sterile gloves and a surgical mask was associated with fewer reported infections: among surgeons operating without sterile gloves for PRK, 62.5% reported at least one postoperative infection, compared with 20% of those who wore them (p = 0.008); for LASIK, the figures were 66.7% versus 8.7% for gloves (p = 0.002) and 50% versus 8.9% for the mask (p = 0.01). The authors conclude that wearing them appears to be advisable.

Influence of Graft Thickness and Regularity on Vision Recovery After Endothelial Keratoplasty

Tourabaly M, Chetrit Y, Provost J, Georgeon C, Kallel S, Temstet C, Bouheraoua N, Borderie V

A study of 150 endothelial grafts analysing the influence of graft thickness (DMEK vs ultra-thin, thin and conventional DSAEK) on visual recovery. Significantly faster recovery with DMEK and ultra-thin DSAEK, with no difference in final vision quality or optical aberrations.
